The past two weeks have been filled with the usual rainy cold weather and on the few days it decided to make an appearance, the sweet warm sunshine. I never realize how much I rely on the sun for not only warmth but happiness until I'm without it during the winter months and tell myself I'll never curse the hot summer heat again because I never want to go without sunshine again. Which, we all know is a lie, because while Oklahoma can be HOT in the summers, living in Europe without AC... I tell myself every day that I'd rather it be cold than be sweating constantly and then it's back to the circle of wanting what we don't have. Maybe one day I'll embrace the seasons for when they're here and not long for them once they're gone.
I haven't had the most thrilling two weeks, just work, school, and tutoring. The nights I tutor in Bakio I take the last bus home, which is actually a small taxi, with the winter months being a low tourist season here. Usually, while I wait it's already dark outside and I stand in the cold waiting for my ride, but this past week I was lucky enough to have a few minutes of light and realized how cool it is to say I teach in a tiny coastal town in Spain.
My school is so tiny nestled in the mountains and I realized I had never taken a photo of it. Not that it's this beautiful breathtaking view, but to think I had no photo was insane. So, enjoy this very basic picture of my tiny and cute school where I spend half of my time at, with some of my favorite people here.
The highlight of my week would be having the students all on my own one day and I talked the kids into taking a photo with me and pretending that they had taken over the classroom. They loved it and we sent it to my other English teacher and told her the kids were so bad...
My favorite is when we're all outside during the student's snack/ patio time and all of the students are in a circle around me asking me the most random questions. They're so nosey, but in the best way and I'm going to be sad when I have to leave for the summer. I'm very fortunate to have an amazing school with friendly and caring coworkers, and students that I look forward to seeing every day. Even when some days they make me want to go crazy...
Next week I'm off to a new country and continent I've never been to...See you then!
