One month in Italy. Wow. I never get used to saying that I live here, and I don't think I ever will.
Much like Oklahoma, spring time here means rain and occasional storms, minus the tornados and horrible humidity. This past week France was hit with some big thunderstorms, so we got the aftermath and had a very rainy cold week.
On the few days it was sunny though, Asia and I ventured out into town on our bikes. The last time I was here, she had just learned how to ride without training wheels and was in the process of riding independently. With it being a few months later, and a lot of convincing, Asia went all by herself without training wheels through the town, up...and down the hills.
I have been skydiving, bungee jumping, taken random car rides with strangers, and much more. However, nothing could've prepared me for the fear of watching a five-year-old ride a bicycle next to a road, and then attempt to ride down a very large hill. It was as if someone told her to ride like a drunk person attempting to pass a sobriety test. Yet, she was able to stay upright and never fell once. She did run into me though, quite often, because she forgot that she had to watch where she was going and was too busy talking or watching everyone else. Somehow we managed to make it home in one piece with no bruises or scrapes, but I can't say my anxiety was any better after that ride.
The highlight of the week was helping the children come up with pranks to pull on their parents for April fools. We placed dozens of fake spiders and snakes throughout the house for them to find, and even drew eyes on all of the bottles inside the fridge. As the day went on and we had forgotten about all of the pranks we pulled until the parents went to lay down for bed and by the sounds of their screams, I suddenly remembered where we hid the last spiders and snake. All in all, it was a great week, and I'm sad my time here is passing by so fast. Time is most certainly a thief, especially when your time is limited.
