I can't believe I've been in Spain for three months...time moves by so fast and some days I feel like I can never catch up. I blinked and suddenly Christmas is this week and I only have three days of school left until I leave for the holidays.
Back home, one of my favorite things about the holidays are the decorations and lights people put up on their houses. While I was okay with not being able to see that this year, I'm happy to say that Spain has its fair share of Christmas lights strung up throughout the cities, and my little American heart couldn't be happier.
The highlight of this past week was during one of my student's tests. The question they had to answer was, "when are you happiest?" Most students gave typical answers or something random, but one particular student thought long and hard and answered, "when I sleep with my friends." Oh the innocence of children, while the teacher and I knew what the student meant, it did bring a smile to my face and was my favorite answer of the day. In a way though, he isn't wrong, I'd say some people are happiest too when sleeping with friends. ;)
To really get into the Christmas spirit this week my American friends and I made sugar cookies and decorated them. Very American of us to do, but it was fun altogether and we ate our weight in cookie dough while watching the world cup.
Merry Christmas, I'm off to Italy for the holidays!
